Vote Sean P. Murphy for East Amwell School Board
Invested in our children's future.
Invested in our children's future.
East Amwell has been the place I have called home since I was 5 years old. East Amwell School is a core part of what makes this a great place to live, a “crown jewel” of this town, and it is one of the biggest reasons we chose East Amwell as the place to raise our family. My own days spent at the school from Kindergarten to Eighth Grade shaped who I am today. I want to give back to the school I love and ensure that all of our kids, my six included, have those same opportunities afforded to them that I was blessed to have.
My roots run deep in East Amwell School and community, and my branches run wide. I currently live on Welisewitz road in a home I designed and built with my wife, Amanda, who is also a child of East Amwell. Both of our parents still live here and have done so for nearly 40 years. My mother was a teacher in Flemington-Raritan, and my brothers both attended the school here. Odds are good that you’ve run into a Murphy in East Amwell School, both past and present. We have 6 children – one in 8th, 6th, 4th, 1st, and pre-K. The youngest is still only 18 months, but his time will come, too. I have 2 nieces that also attend the school. Maybe one year they will name a bus after us…
My fall and spring seasons are spent at soccer. I am a member of the South Country Soccer League board serving as Treasurer, and I have coached our teams that have included many of your children since 2017.
I spent my elementary education at East Amwell School, played a role as my 8th grade student council president and (funny enough) presented to this very board at age 13. Then I went off to Hunterdon Central, then New Jersey Institute of Technology in their Honors College earning a degree in Computer Engineering, and eventually returning to school in 2014 to complete my MBA from Stern School of Business at NYU (bless my wife, Amanda, for that too).
I work as the Head of Software Engineering at a newly spun off Fortune 500 Consumer Health company leading a globally diverse organization of extraordinary engineers and a multi-million dollar technology budget. Prior to that I was an executive at a major local pharmaceutical company in IT for 20 years.
Why the school board? East Amwell School was the place I grew from to become what I am today. I simply want my children, and all our kids, to have the same opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive that I had. Times change, new perspectives are important for growth, and communication and organizational discipline are critical aspects I hope to work with our Board to focus on – always with a principle of doing what is best for our children to become the best versions of themselves.
I love this school. This is my school. What happens within it is important to me and I will always stand up for what I believe is in the best interest of all of our children, and that is why I humbly ask for your vote this November for East Amwell School Board.
